How I Make My Strawberry Matcha Latte
1. Blend the Strawberry Base
I start by washing, hulling, and blending the strawberries until smooth.
I taste it - if the berries are already sweet enough, I skip the sweetener. (But you can always add a dash of honey or maple syrup if needed.)
Sometimes I set aside a few slices to get fancy with the final look.
2. 🍵 Sift the Matcha
I always sift 2–4 grams of All About Chai matcha through a fine mesh strainer.
It prevents clumps and gives the matcha that smooth, velvety finish.
3. Whisk It Like You Mean It
Add warm (not boiling!) water around 80°C and whisk in a “W” motion using a bamboo chasen or an electric frother.
Whisk until it’s frothy and that vivid green comes to life.
Every single time I pause to smell it there’s just something about that grassy, calming aroma.
4. Layer Like a Pro
In a tall glass, I go:
- Strawberry purée first
- Then slowly pour in the milk (don’t mix!)
- If I skipped sweetener earlier, I stir it a little now
- And finally, I pour the matcha over the back of a spoon so it floats gently on top
5. Garnish + Sip or Chill
Top with sliced strawberries, soaked chia, or even a mint leaf if you’re in that main character mood.
If I want it thicker, I chill it in the fridge for 5–15 minutes and boom , it’s like a strawberry matcha smoothie dream.
FAQs I Get All the Time
Q: Can I use frozen strawberries?
Totally! Just thaw them a bit first. Bonus: it’ll make your drink even colder and more refreshing.
Q: What’s the best milk for this?
Oat milk is my go-to for that creamy sweetness. Almond is light and nutty, and full-fat dairy gives you that café richness. Choose what feels right.
Q: Does matcha have caffeine?
Yup! But unlike coffee, matcha gives a gentle, longer-lasting energy boost thanks to L-theanine. No jitters here.
Q: Can I prep it ahead?
Definitely. I often prep the strawberry and matcha parts in advance, and just assemble when I’m ready to serve (so the layers stay perfect).
Q: No frother or whisk - what now?
Been there! Just use a small jar with a lid , add the matcha and warm water, then shake it like you mean it. It won’t be traditional, but it gets the job done.
Q: How can I make it more dessert-like?
Add soaked chia seeds and refrigerate for 15–30 mins and voilà: strawberry matcha pudding realness.
